Mean Girls
Body Language- In this picture from the film mean girls we see there are four girls which are the key characters. However, there body language in this picture shows the different personalities of each one, Regina George is the most important character in this film, her body language signifies her confidence and the way she is stood in the middle of her two friends implies she is socially more popular and powerful. Also the way she is stood with her head back and to the side has connotations of her being more dominant than the other characters and her legs being one in front of the other has connotations of her being self-confident which Gretchen is also doing too. Furthermore, her friend Karen and Gretchen are stood half facing forward which suggests they are more vulnerable and less confident than Regina as she is stood to the side which signifies she is more secretive and has more to hide. On the other hand, Cady is stood facing forward and doesn't show any confidence this implies she is very vulnerable and is following the popular girls to fit in.
Facial Expressions- All the characters show different facial expressions which defines there personality in this film. Regina is pouting and pulling a funny face which signifies her confidence in front of people and the way she is posing implies she very self-assured. Karen and Cady are looking at Regina which suggests they look up to her and follow her around because of her status and popularity in the school. Gretchen and Regina make eye contact with the camera signifying that they are extremely confident, but by Regina's posture and facial expression shows she is the most self-confident out of the four characters.
Costume - Cady, Karen and Regina all wear short skirts as well as Gretchen who also wears a short dress which they all do to attract the male characters. The colours that Regina wears is pink and black, pink has connotations of femininity, charming and sweet however black has connotations of power, evil and mystery. The colours Regina wears contrast to each other and showing the two sides to her personality as the black represents her power within the school, her popularity and her evil sly acts she does throughout the film. Where as the pink colour represents the personality she portrays in front of people and the black shows the evil personality she has behind peoples back. Gretchen wears the colour red which signifies her passion, romance and love as she is desperate to attract males and desperate for love as she is jealous about Regina's attention off males. Karen also wears black as a sign of fear of Regina she follows her around the school, which makes her look weak and has fear of standing up to Regina. Cady wears light blue which has connotations of trust, loyalty and intelligence which Cady shows trust and loyalty at the start of the film as she tells her friends about Regina's actions. Also she shows intelligence because she gets top grades in maths and goes on the maths team. Cady also wears light pink which has connotations of charming, cute and sweet this is shown when she talks to Regina's boyfriend behind her back the personality she portrays.
Hair and Makeup - Regina has blonde hair the typical stereotype about girls with blonde hair describes them as a 'blonde bombshell' this describes Regina's character in the film because she is very sly and messes up friendships and relationships for pleasure to make self look more powerful. Karen also has blonde hair which another stereotype about blonde hair describes people as 'dumb blonde' this implies that all blondes are dumb and Karen represents that stereotype in this film as she asks how to spell orange which shows her as being unable to see Regina as evil or manipulative and that's why she follows her around. All four characters wear makeup to make themselves look more attractive because they want to attract the males.
Positioning - the characters are placed in the corridor of their high school with many students and class mates surrounding them this signifies the popularity of this group of girls. The students are all staring at the four girls and clear a pathway for them to walk through which they all watch them walk through the corridor, this implies they are all jealous of there social status within the school and some want to be like them which is why they are all staring.
Colour - The colour in the setting is very dull surrounding the girls and very plain, where as the girls are all dressed in bright colours to show the uniqueness of them and also to make themselves stand out from the crowd.
